Mobile App Development: Is It Right For My Business? “Mobile application development represents a significant cost, and I’m not exactly sure how much I will get back on my investment.” Most businesses will be looking back at 2019 or 2020 ten years from now and find themselves upset they failed to take advantage when the market was empty and easy. Why didn’t they build an app for their business when the market and their industry was underserved? How can YOU avoid looking back with regret? What you’re probably asking is: “Mobile application development: is it right for my business? If now is the time to take advantage of it… how can I do it, and who will help me?” Mobile application development costs money. It’s true, and there’s no way to sugarcoat it. Most people are asking: “How can my business afford to do this?”, but should be asking “How much money will my business lose if I fail to do this?” Mobile Application Development Example: Cleaning Company Not every business can benefit from a mobile Application. For example, if you are a single housecleaner, having a new mobile application for your business is probably not feasible. You can watch your own calendar, schedule your own affairs, collect fees and order supplies on your own. On the other hand, if you are a medium-sized business with a handful of housecleaning teams, this could be a fantastic item. Imagine being able to communicate back-and-forth between your customers, clients and workers and automating services. This could allow you to know where your teams are, what speed they’re traveling at, and what...

Generate Design News for Advertising, Graphic Design, Website Design, and App Design Over the last few months, Generate Design has been enjoying a rather strong uptick in calls to the office. Apparently, a lot of people have been enjoying the new content on the blog. First of all, thank you! Our team works hard to make sure that we’ve got good content in here which is original, and not a rehashing of stale old materials off of the web. Any business enjoys being able to have fresh, high-quality content. Any business worth it’s salt knows that if you keep giving people the same thing over and over and over again, you’re just going to make them sick of it. A few people have noted that they found us in email searches and their so new to the site that as soon as they clicked on the portfolio materials, they wanted to call us for meetings. That said, several people noted that they often travel from one blog post to the next and have a hard time deciding where they’re going to go. So, by request only, we have decided to put together this single post as a way to easily direct you to some of our best material in the past. Please enjoy these links and forward this material on to your friends and colleagues who could get great use out of it. Lorem Ipsum Fails: Why Real Graphic Designers and Advertisers Use Real Content The reason Lorem Ipsum is a mistake. How much do Apps cost? I get asked this question daily (at least on business days) and try to equate it to buying a car. It’s possible to buy a used car for under $5,000 that should be perfectly adequate to get you where you need to go. Similarly buying a new car can run the gamut from a base model Kia Rio for $13,600 to a high end Porsche 911 Turbo for $100,000+. The same range holds true for iPhone, iPad and Android Apps. Under $5,000 – Used Cars Using existing mobile app technology, we can get you on the road. This reminds me of when I was 16-years old and knew I wanted a car, and in my mind I needed a car. I had no idea where it would take me but knew with my paper route/lawn mowing budget I could afford a used Ford Mustang. $5,000 – $10,000 – Replace the Engine From time to time Generate Design will be asked to design new screens and enhance the user experience. Other times we are asked to fix broken code so the app stops crashing. This would be like replacing the engine of an older car. You know with a couple imperative fixes, the app is good for many more miles. $10,000 – $35,000 – Brand New Car ...

Design is everywhere – from the tables and chairs we use, to the documents we write, to the smartphone apps we download. In fact, it is nearly impossible to go one day without encountering an element of design. Before we know it, design thinking will be a necessity for every business, not just design agencies and architecture firms. Effective design not only pleases the eye, but it also improves lives, helps convey vital information, and attracts new business. For example, Studio Dental designed a mobile unit that not only provides dental healthcare to those who can’t drive to an office, but also maintains the comfort of a typical office. The interior of the modern trailer includes features such as warm wood cabinets and built-in TVs. Kelly-Moore Paints created a vivid, well-designed infographic that explains how you can build a color palette with your favorite music. The company created album covers for The Beatles, Daft Punk, Florence and the Machine, and Mumford and Sons using colors from its own collection of paints. Kelly-Moore Paints employs a variety of infographics on its website to attract customers and share useful and interesting information. Airbnb was a failing start-up until its founders realized they needed to upgrade its design, specifically, the photographs of its listings, in order to stay afloat. Poor photographs of apartments, houses, and rooms were costing the new company a lot of business. However, when the founders started posting professional-looking photography on their site, the financial outlook for Airbnb completely changed. Ultimately, design thinking helped make Airbnb a billion-dollar business. In short, whether you are a doctor, painter, struggling entrepreneur, or...
