How much do Apps cost?
I get asked this question daily (at least on business days) and try to equate it to buying a car.
It’s possible to buy a used car for under $5,000 that should be perfectly adequate to get you where you need to go. Similarly buying a new car can run the gamut from a base model Kia Rio for $13,600 to a high end Porsche 911 Turbo for $100,000+. The same range holds true for iPhone, iPad and Android Apps.
Under $5,000 – Used Cars
Using existing mobile app technology, we can get you on the road. This reminds me of when I was 16-years old and knew I wanted a car, and in my mind I needed a car. I had no idea where it would take me but knew with my paper route/lawn mowing budget I could afford a used Ford Mustang.
$5,000 – $10,000 – Replace the Engine
From time to time Generate Design will be asked to design new screens and enhance the user experience. Other times we are asked to fix broken code so the app stops crashing. This would be like replacing the engine of an older car. You know with a couple imperative fixes, the app is good for many more miles.
$10,000 – $35,000 – Brand New Car
Our starting project range will get you into a new App, where you can work with our design team, look at options, and accessories – a respectable, dependable, clean, worry free app that gets good mileage. We’re talking Honda Accord, Toyota Camry – not too fancy.
$35,000 – $75,000 – Luxury Automobile
Sometimes you want your app to do more than get you where you need to go. Sometimes you want style, added comfort, and cool features. An auto starter is real nice for those cold winter mornings, and leather seats can add a touch of comfort and style. Perhaps performance is more important and it’s worth paying more for the turbo charged engine and sports suspension. Translating the metaphor mobile apps, some apps require large database integration, advanced commerce security during transactions, or massive push notification abilities.
$75,000+ – Ultra High Performance
The sky’s the limit. There are plenty of options out there for you. Sometimes a stealthy gray hot rod disguised as a businessman’s daily driver like a BMW M5 will do the job. Perhaps style is worth paying for and the Ferrari 488GTB is necessary to make a bold statement. Or customization is important to make a unique statement such as a full exterior chrome body paint job, or an electric engine that goes 0-60 in less than 5 seconds like a Tesla! iPhone, iPad and Android Apps that enter this range when they are either enormous in terms functionality, extremely complex in terms of custom logic, or simply require hours and hours for design and coding enter this level of high performance.
